Ingredients

200 g plant-based milk
180 g icing sugar
35 g block margarine
1/2 vanilla pod
Plant-based condensed milk is not currently easy to find in supermarkets, yet it is a very simple product to make and is often used in pastry. Here's how to make it at home in a few steps.

Method

Weigh the milk, the sugar and the margarine in a small saucepan. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, open it and with the blade of a knife extract the seeds, add them to the mixture. Mix the mixture with a whisk and bring to a boil over low heat.

Boil over low heat for 30 minutes to evaporate some water and thicken the cream. Then transfer to a container or jar, and place in the refrigerator to cool. When completely cold it will have thickened and will be ready to use.

Storage

Store in the refrigerator in a jar or closed container for up to 2 weeks.
